Review of my intense art year 2025

Holy guacamole! What an incredible year that was!

Here's a quick summary of my successes and highlights:

  • Large and successful duo exhibition at Nebbienschen Gartenhaus with my HaBits picture series

  • Won the Arista charity calendar competition: "Aufstehen! Kunst von Frauen für Frauen" (Stand up! Art by women for women), including an accompanying exhibition

  • 15 completed paintings plus various experiments/mixed media works

  • 12 (!) pieces sold – including a commissioned work

  • Renewed participation in the artists' Christmas market at Paulskirche – in the heart of Frankfurt city centre

  • Further training with courses in art history and painting at the 'Freie Kunstakademie Frankfurt'

  • I even had to turn down two exhibitions because either all my current paintings had just been sold (a first world problem!) or I didn't have the time for them

Personal conclusion

It's really crazy how much has happened this year and how emotionally enriching it has been for me. Being an artist is a dream, and I'm finally living it – even if it's not my main job. But who would that even be possible for?!

Financially speaking, my year as an artist was actually a success – whoop whoop! (However, that quickly becomes relative when you see how many fees accumulate.)

There are days where I think too much about all that financial stuff. One of those days, I came across the follwing description of a band that no longer exists:

‘Palm Reader was a band from 2011 to 2024. They made four records. Each record was better than the one before. Maybe you'll enjoy them. Maybe you won't. But some of you did. And that's all that matters.’

This touched me deeply, and I believe that this is what it should be all about.

What's next

The new year kicks off with the next exhibition: Under the title ‘Life in the Main Metropolis,’ several artists from the Frankfurt Artists' Club will be exhibiting at the BBK Südhessen in Groß-Umstadt.

The vernissage is held on 23 January 2026 at 7 p.m. Details can be found here.

The exhibition runs until 22 February 2026.

Otherwise, I have decided to start a new series of images and to further develop my visual language within the context of digital themes. I am excited to see what happens!

Have a great start to the new (art) year!
